Tooting Folk and Blues Festival is a daytime celebration of the folk and blues music scene in South London. It’s a free, family friendly event for the local community and beyond. 2016 will be the second year running after an extremely successful inaugural event in August 2015. Presented by The Breathing Room, a much loved acoustic music night in Tooting, it aims to deliver a true sense of cultural of occasion in order to bring the local community together and foster a sense of place and well being for all that attend. Find out more on their dedicated Backer page or see the campaign update below.
The festival will be held on Tooting Bec Common Event Site – only a 10 minute walk from Tooting Bec Station – on Saturday 6th August 2016 from midday until 7pm. Last year brought over 4000 attendees across the day with a peak of 1000 on site at any one time. It is a great event for all ages and stages from young professionals, groups of friends, parents with young families and local residents. There is one stage, street food from local businesses, a beer tent, cocktails and ice-creams!
The festival team raised money for the event last year through sponsorship and fees from various food and stall vendors but ended up making a loss on the day. We think such a fabulous community event deserves community support so please help the organisers reach their £5000 funding goal by ordering a poster, t-shirt or VIP pass on their Backer page!
