Last year on Saturday 8th August, my daughter Ellen Harrison and myself hosted a free outdoor folk and blues festival on Tooting Bec Common. All permits and permission was granted to us after a period of negotiation with Wandsworth Borough Council and the festival went ahead, opening at 12 noon and finishing at 7.00pm. We had a 5k PA system with stage supplied by a professional company at cost and a host of local musicians who performed throughout the day. The event was well advertised locally and beyond with an estimated 3 to 4 thousand people in attendance. The festival was an overwhelming success with food and drink vendors selling off their stock and everyone going home satisfied, both by the vigorous trading, and the entertainment value of the day. We have permits and permission from Wandsworth Council to host our second event on 6th August 2016 which is in an ongoing state of preparation.
Why we need your support...
We raised money for the event through sponsorship and fees from the vendors to pitch and sell food and drink, however, we made a loss on the day. This year, due to projected increase in numbers of attendees, all our overheads have increased by, in some circumstances, more than 100%. We have some sponsorship in place and have also increased the pitch fees for vendors but we still find ourselves with a short fall.
Please give what you can! Thank you.
